Barb and dog on stairs, Why is change so darn hard?

Real Life.

Real Shifts.

Real Support.

I’ve reinvented myself more than once, sometimes by choice, sometimes because life threw me a curveball. I’ve started businesses, changed careers, and become a certified coach at 60.

And I wouldn’t change a thing. Because now, I get to help people like you figure out what comes next.

I Know What “Stuck” Feels Like

I watched my dad unravel after he retired at 62. For decades, he was a small business owner, a respected pharmacist. But once the work stopped, so did his sense of identity. Without a plan or purpose, he drifteddisconnected, deeply sad, and, in my eyes, clinically depressed. He wasn’t diagnosed—mental health wasn’t something people talked about then—but I saw it. I felt it. I lived it.

That experience left an imprint I couldn’t shake.

Years later, when I was laid off from a corporate job I thought I’d retire from, I hit my own wall. It felt like the end of everything I knew—until I realized it could be the beginning of something I chose.

I wasn’t done growing. I wasn’t done dreaming.

So I built something new: a business, a new identity, a life I love.

Now I help others do the same.

Because this chapter? It deserves more than drifting. It deserves direction.

“Barb appropriately challenges my mindset and encourages me to consider new ideas and methods for achieving my goals. Her confidence and enthusiasm helps give me the courage to go outside my comfort zone which is extremely beneficial.

Barb’s help has been so valuable and I feel truly lucky to have her in my corner.”

-Linda Goldman, Certified Professional Organizer®

“Although it’s difficult for many people to understand the nature of my work, Barb shows a remarkable ability to zero in on the challenges I’m having with my job and recognize the complex dynamics of the organization in which I work. In the past, I was apprehensive to take steps to change my situation.

Barb helps me think about my options and gives me the confidence to take action.”

Why I Do This Work

This isn’t theory—it’s personal.

I’ve spent over three decades in HR, leading retirement/rewirement workshops since my 20s. I’ve coached people through reinventions, relocations, health scares, layoffs, and those quiet crises no one talks about—the “What am I even doing now?” moments that sneak up after 60.

I’ve lived it too. I’ve cried in uncertainty. I’ve stared down big transitions. I’ve had to let go of who I was to make space for who I’m becoming.

That’s why I became a coach.

To guide others through the part of retirement/rewirement no one prepares you for: the identity shifts, the loss of structure, the search for purpose. Because I’ve been there. And I know how powerful it can be when you stop drifting and start designing.

I’m not here to hand you a plan. I’m here to help you create your own—with honesty, structure, and heart.

Here’s a quick hello from me to you.

barb mason's unstuck life

My Approach:

Present, Practical, No Pressure

I don’t do cookie-cutter coaching. I don’t toss around “manifestation” talk or force you into a vision board.

Here’s how I show up instead:

✔  I listen more than I talk. This is your life, not mine.

✔  I call it like I see it, with kindness. I’ll be honest, but never harsh.

✔  We’ll move at your pace. This isn’t a sprint. It’s a shift.

✔  You’ll always feel seen. No pressure. No performance. Just presence.

You imagine your life’s possibilities.

I’ll bring the structure.

And together, we’ll make your next chapter your best one yet.

Why My Clients Choose Me

They aren’t looking for hype. Or hustle. Or a one-size-fits-all program.

They’re looking for…

✔  A partner who’s been there. I’ve walked through big transitions myself, career pivots, business launches, health changes, and yes… turning 60.

✔  Honest conversation. No corporate speak. No “just trust the universe” talk. Just meaningful questions, deep listening, and practical steps.

✔  Warmth without fluff. I’ll meet you where you are, with kindness, clarity, and zero scripted performance.

✔  Structure with soul. We’ll build a plan that’s grounded, doable, and completely your own.

At the end of the day, clients choose me because I don’t coach from a pedestal; I coach beside them as a partner. And that makes all the difference
